It was 2011 and i just came to the USA and this was my first job in the USA. I worked at Tedeschi FOod Shops and was sales associate. Although i did not like this job, but i am grateful to this job for many reasons. I had a co-worker who was very nice of all and very honest and sincere. I had learned so many things from him that i did not know about the USA. He taught me American cuture, things that i did not know, and people around here. That's why i was able to know about many things about USA. His mother was an artist and he showed me his mother's Art Gallery which was very interesting for me. When i was here first in the USA, i was feeling so alone and bored. He advised me how to handle everything. I was really grateful to him for everything.
I was grateful to this job for another reason, because this store was in Hyde Park which was in a very quiet place. There were so many trees and lakes looked like a small forest. I always love nature. When i felt very lonely and sad, i used to go to the nature and enjoy it when i was in Bangladesh. So, when i saw trees and lakes in USA, i felt so happy and relaxed. I walked too far to see the natural sights which was close to my workplace. The whole area was full of natural beauty. There were so many flowers and colorful leaves which attarcted me and gave me company on those days. I really was very grateful to the nature to giving me the company. I am grateful to my job too. for the natural sights.
I was grateful to another person whom i met on my workplace. Her name was Irish and she was very old. She couldn't walk very well. When she used to come to my workplace, i asked her where she lived. Coincidently, she became my neighbor and i asked her if she needed anything, she could let me know and i would bring it for her. Then she used to tell me what she needed and i brought it for her. She taught me different things and took me many places where i needed. I did not have a car, so she gave me a lot of rides to different places and first took me to the hospital for make health insurance because i did not any idea about the health insurance. In Bangladesh, no one had health insurance. So, she took me to get my health insurance and taught me lot of things about America. I am so grateful to her and my workplace to meet with her.

  1. Nurunnahar,

Excellent post. It has been so wonderful to see your work evolve throughout the semester. This is one of your best posts - it is well written, sincere, clear, and you have a great design. I like the images your chose (nature based theme).

I also like your stories about your first experiences in the US, and how helpful people became caring friends. What a wonderful story to hear. It makes me feel grateful that you had these experiences... that you cared and people cared for you... to ensure that everyone would get along, be safe, and be ok.

    How beautiful?

I am happy to hear your stories and how you persevered in that time... just coming from your country to a new place. You got through that period with love and gratitude and surely you are moving along towards your ideal future... as you continue with school and look forward to working with children.

You are on your way. With gratitude, we can keep humble, we can ask for help, and we are willing to help others. That is how community works. That is how we create our own supportive villages... we surround ourselves with great people (from all over the world). We all work together to help each other succeed.

That is the love of the universe.

Excellent work. I am happy you've had these experiences and that they've made you stronger and more successful.

    GR: 100
